Guidelines for recognition of INR training

ANZSNR has been working jointly with the Australian and New Zealand Association of Neurologists (ANZAN) and the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia to develop guidelines for the recognition of training in interventional neuroradiology (INR).

ANZSNR has been working jointly with the Australian and New Zealand Association of Neurologists (ANZAN) and the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia to develop guidelines for the recognition of training in interventional neuroradiology (INR). The Conjoint Committee for Recognition of Training in Interventional Neuroradiology have now made public the final draft document, prior to ratification by the parent Colleges. RANZCR have made the document available to members for feedback, as part of its member consultation policy. Alternatively, you may review it here.

The ANZSNR 2015 iOS app - get it while you still can

One of the great features of the 2015 ANZSNR Diagnostic Neuroradiology Refresher Course was the offer of a FREE iOS app to augment the content provided within the meeting by the Radiopaedia team. You can read what Radiopaedia Editor and Founder Dr Frank Gaillard has to say about the app here

The app was free for all comers, not just ANZSNR 2015 attendees, in the spirit of Frank's philosophy on offering high quality educational material for everyone, at no cost.

The app will be available on the iOS store for a few more weeks, so grab it while you can, and use the links to download the case material to your device.

Go to this page for a brief illustrated description of the iOS app.

The Diagnostic Neuroradiology Weekend refresher Course, hosted by ANZSNR at the Crown Promenade Hotel in Melbourne, VIC, concluded on Sunday 22nd March with plaudits from the 200+ attendees. An excellent Faculty delivered content which was interesting, relevant and at times highly entertaining.  Speakers kept to their brief of delivering concisely presented information with key take-home points, and keeping to time. Many speakers gave helpful 'how I do it'  insights into how they would approach particular imaging scenarios.

The Radiopaedia sessions reinforced the didactic lecture content with excellent case-based material, presented using the Radiopaedia software, which allows images to be presented in a non linear way, more accurately mimicking the way radiologists review cases when reporting.

The feedback from attendees so far suggests that the Society has a wealth of world class presenters it can call upon to deliver high quality educational material, and ANZSNR should maintain a commitment to radiological education in addition to presenting more 'leading edge' material at its meetings.

The next annual meeting of the ANZSNR will be held in March 2016 in the Hunter Valley, NSW.

Welcome to the 2015 ANZSNR Meeting

The ANZSNR 2015 Diagnostic Neuroradiology refresher course takes place this weekend 21st and 22nd March at the Crown Promenade Hotel, Melbourne. Currently we have over 200 registrants.

The ANZSNR 2015 Diagnostic Neuroradiology refresher course takes place this weekend 21st and 22nd March at the Crown Promenade Hotel, Melbourne. Currently we have over 200 registrants.

The 2015 meeting marks a change for ANZSNR. Our traditional annual meeting is a two or three day event with a “scientific” focus - the ANZSNR Annual Scientific Meeting. In 2011 we appended a didactic course to our Canberra ASM, with Ric Harnsberger as key speaker. The course was very popular and well attended, and since then we have been looking to do something similar. Last year the ANZSNR Council resolved to include more ‘educational’ meetings in the ANZSNR Calendar. The ANZSNR 2015 Diagnostic Neuroradiology refresher course is the first of these. Later this year the ANZSNR will host the World Federation of Interventional and Therapeutic Neuroradiology meeting at the Gold Coast Convention Centre (WFITN) and next year we will host an didactic teaching course for Head and Neck Radiology.

We hoped that this meeting would appeal in particular to radiologists with an interest in diagnostic neuroradiology and registrars in training. We have an outstanding team of ANZ and international presenters. The lecture material is up to date and relevant, and each lecture should highlight a number of useful ‘take home points’. In addition, we have been fortunate to collaborate with the highly popular Radiopaedia team in bringing several case based interactive sessions to the meeting. We have  produced an accompanying Radiopaedia/ANZSNR 2015 iOS app just for this meeting, so that you may keep all of the case material for later review.

My thanks go to Pramit Phal as our principal convenor, ably abetted by Peter Mitchell; thanks to all of our generous sponsors, and thanks to NC Events for organising this meeting.

Prof Alan Coulthard
President, ANZSNR
